Also, some helpful hints on portrait photography from my classmate Ray:
- Your subject's eyes MUST be in focus. You can use the widest aperture (shallowest depth of field) and have the subject completely in blur, but if the eyes are in focus you can still make for a great shot.
- Constantly check the picture you've just taken on the camera itself so that you can retake it immediately if necessary. I look for proper exposure and I also zoom in closely to the eyes to make sure it's as sharp/focused as I want it to be.
